WCG France reaches Grand Final

The French qualification for World Cyber Games 2009 reaches its final match – Millenium and Esport-Eu to fight for the spot to Chengdu.

The first finalist to be found was Millenium, who did not face much resistance against shockwave in the semi-final. Millenium took a 16-4 win on inferno, granting them access to the Grand Final at WCG France.

The second semi-final saw oXmoze taking on Esport-Eu on dust2. Esport-Eu got to start as attackers, which secured them a 10-5 lead at half-time. Second half should see Esport-Eu taking two clutch rounds to continue their lead against oXmoze. oXmoze did attacks that worked and cashed in rounds one by one. At the score 14-12 in favor of oXmoze, something clicked. Esport-Eu was able to take three straight rounds, to secure at least a tie. oXmoze took the last round, tying the match up, going to overtime. In overtime Esport-Eu showed no mercy, taking a 4-0 win, to win 19:15 overall and advance to face Millenium in the Grand Final.

The Grand Final will also be played best-of-one map, to determine which of the two teams will book the ticket to Chengdu. Going into the match, Millenium look really strong and must be counted as favorites in the matchup. A third place match between oXmoze and shockwave will be played at 15:00CET, while the Grand Final will kick off at 17:00CET.
